- Rain and snow erosion:Rainwater and meltwater that enter the electrical control cabinet or motor directly can easily cause severe faults such as short circuits and component damage.
Protective measures required for outdoor installation
If site constraints require the oil-free screw air compressor to be installed outdoors, be sure to implement the following protective measures:
- Erecting a protective shed:A dedicated rain- and sun-proof canopy must be erected for the equipment. The canopy shall provide effective waterproofing to prevent rain and snow from directly wetting the machine and its electrical components.
- Ensure ventilation and heat dissipation:The protective canopy must not be sealed into a completely enclosed space. It must be equipped with ample air inlets and outlets to ensure adequate ventilation, meet the air compressor’s cooling and heat‑dissipation requirements, and prevent heat buildup.
- Dust Prevention and Air Intake Filtration:Install a dust‑proof screen at the air intake of the protective shed and clean it regularly. Additionally, adjust the maintenance and replacement intervals for the air compressor’s intake filter element based on outdoor air quality.
- Winter freeze protection and thermal insulation:In cold regions, when outdoor temperatures drop below freezing during winter, thermal insulation and freeze‑protection measures must be implemented for water pipes, air lines, and equipment to prevent cooling water or condensate from freezing and causing pipelines to burst.
Daily Maintenance and Precautions
Oil-free screw air compressors operating in outdoor environments require more meticulous daily maintenance:
- Increase inspection frequency:Regularly inspect equipment operating parameters, including exhaust temperature and pressure, to ensure the equipment operates within normal ranges.
- Drain condensate promptly:Due to large temperature differences outdoors, condensation is more likely to form in gas storage tanks and pipelines. It is essential to ensure that automatic drain valves are functioning properly, or to increase the frequency of manual draining, to maintain the dryness of oil-free compressed air.
- Electrical Safety Inspection:Regularly inspect cable lines and wiring terminals for aging, damage, or loosening caused by wind and sun exposure to ensure electrical safety.
