Precautions for Air Compressors in Gansu Province

The Gansu region features complex topography and a climate characterized by large diurnal temperature swings, cold, dry winters, and frequent sandstorms in certain areas. These environmental factors directly affect the operating efficiency and service life of air compressors. To ensure the safe and reliable operation of the equipment, operators must strictly adhere to applicable usage and maintenance guidelines.

Operating Environment Requirements

A favorable operating environment is essential for the efficient operation of air compressors. In light of Gansu’s climatic characteristics, particular attention should be given to the following aspects:

  • Ventilation and Heat DissipationThe air compressor room must maintain adequate ventilation to ensure the cooling system operates properly and to prevent equipment shutdown due to overheating caused by heat buildup.
  • Dust and sandstorm protectionIn areas with heavy sand and dust, the data center’s air intake should be fitted with a dust‑proof filter, which must be cleaned regularly to prevent sand and dust from entering the equipment and causing wear to critical components.
  • Temperature controlDuring the winter, when temperatures are low, ensure that the temperature inside the equipment room remains above the minimum operating limit specified for the equipment; if necessary, implement thermal insulation measures to prevent the lubricating oil from solidifying.

Standardized Startup and Shutdown Procedures

Following the correct start-up and shutdown procedures can effectively reduce mechanical wear and extend the equipment’s service life.

  • Pre-Start InspectionBefore each start-up, check that the oil level is within the normal range, verify that all connections are secure, and ensure the cooling system is functioning properly.
  • Smooth startAfter startup, the equipment should be run at no load for a period of time. Once the oil temperature has risen and the operating sound has stabilized, gradually increase the load until it reaches normal operating conditions.
  • Proper ShutdownDuring shutdown, first unload the equipment, allow it to run idling for several minutes to ensure uniform cooling of internal components, and then disconnect the power. Direct shutdown under load is strictly prohibited.

Guidelines for Daily Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance is a critical component for preventing failures and sustaining equipment performance.

  • Filter cartridge management: Based on the ambient dust concentration, regularly inspect and replace the air filter element, oil filter element, and oil–gas separation filter element to ensure intake air quality and efficient oil–gas separation.
  • Lubricant ManagementUse lubricants that meet the specified standards, and strictly prohibit the mixing of oils from different brands or grades. Regularly take samples for analysis, and replace the oil immediately if emulsification or degradation is detected.
  • Condensate drainageIn the Gansu region, air humidity varies with the seasons. Therefore, the drain valves at the bottom of gas storage tanks and oil–gas separators should be opened regularly to completely discharge condensed water, thereby preventing internal corrosion of the system.

Operational Monitoring and Exception Handling

Real-time monitoring during operation helps to eliminate potential hazards in their early stages.

  • Parameter MonitoringDuring operation, closely monitor key parameters such as discharge pressure, discharge temperature, and motor current to ensure they remain within their rated ranges.
  • Exception HandlingIf abnormal vibration, unusual noises, or parameter exceedances are detected, immediately press the emergency stop button and, after disconnecting the power, have the issue investigated by qualified personnel. Never perform maintenance while the equipment is running.
