How to use an electric air compressor in Gansu Province

Preparation Before Startup

Before starting the energy-saving air compressor, a thorough inspection must be carried out to ensure that the equipment is in good operating condition and to prevent increased energy consumption or equipment failure due to inadequate preparation.

  • Check the lubricating oil levelEnsure the oil level is within the normal range. Insufficient oil can trigger a high-temperature shutdown, while excessive oil may cause oil carryover and increase operating costs.
  • Inspect pipelines and valvesConfirm that the exhaust piping is unobstructed, that the valves of the cooling water system (if water-cooled) are open, and that all connections are secure with no looseness or leaks.
  • Inspect the electrical systemEnsure that the power supply voltage is stable, the grounding connection is secure, and all indicator lights on the control panel are functioning normally.

Standardized Startup and Operation Procedures

Proper startup and operational procedures are the key to realizing the energy-saving advantages of energy-efficient air compressors, and operators must adhere strictly to the relevant standards.

  • No-load start-upAfter pressing the start button, the equipment typically runs at no load first. Once the motor has stabilized and the oil temperature has risen to the normal range, the load is gradually applied.
  • Observe operating parametersDuring operation, closely monitor parameters such as discharge pressure, discharge temperature, and motor current. If any abnormal fluctuations are detected, immediately shut down the equipment and perform troubleshooting.
  • Manage stress appropriatelyBased on actual production gas demand, set the loading/unloading pressure points appropriately on the control panel. Avoid setting an excessively high discharge pressure; reducing the pressure by even a small amount can significantly save electricity.

Daily maintenance tailored to local conditions

The Gansu region is characterized by cold winters, large diurnal temperature variations, and frequent sandstorms in some areas; accordingly, targeted maintenance measures should be implemented when operating energy‑efficient air compressors.

  • Strengthen filtration and cleaningFor environments with heavy sand and dust, the air filter cleaning and replacement intervals should be shortened to prevent increased intake resistance from raising energy consumption.
  • Winter freeze protection and warmthDuring cold weather, after shutdown, promptly drain any standing water from the cooling system (for water-cooled equipment), or ensure that the data center temperature remains above the equipment’s minimum operating ambient temperature to prevent pipe freezing and rupture.
  • Regular blowdown: Regularly drain the condensate from the bottom of the air receiver tank and oil–gas separator to maintain dry, clean compressed air.

Practical Tips for Enhancing Energy Efficiency

To maximize the economic benefits of energy‑efficient air compressors, enterprises can implement the following optimization strategies in their day-to-day operations.

  • Managing pipeline leakageRegularly inspect the workshop’s compressed-air piping network, promptly repair any leaks, and minimize unnecessary air losses.
  • Optimize gas-end equipmentEliminate energy-intensive, outdated pneumatic tools and adopt energy-efficient nozzles and pneumatic equipment to reduce air consumption at the source.
  • Implement regular maintenance: Replace the air filter, oil filter, oil–gas separator element, and lubricating oil in strict accordance with the equipment maintenance manual to ensure that the equipment operates at peak efficiency at all times.
