Illegally discharging or mistakenly releasing industrial wastewater into stormwater drainage systems constitutes a violation of the law, and enterprises may face administrative penalties, suspension of operations for rectification, or even more severe legal consequences.
The Proper Approach to Compliant Emissions Disposal
To ensure compliance and protect the environment, companies should adopt the following scientific and standardized handling practices:
- Install oil-water separation equipment:Install a dedicated oil–water separator or condensate purifier at the downstream end of the refrigerant dryer’s drain outlet. Using physical or chemical processes, separate the oil content from the water, ensuring that the treated effluent meets the local wastewater‑discharge standards.
- Discharge into the sewage network:Condensate that has undergone oil–water separation and meets the required standards may be discharged into the plant area.Sewage pipeline network, ultimately entering the municipal wastewater treatment plant for advanced treatment.
- Centralized collection of hazardous waste:If the condensate has an extremely high oil content, or if local environmental regulations are particularly stringent, the condensate should be collected in dedicated waste‑liquid containers and periodically handed over to a qualified third‑party professional organization for recovery and treatment.
- Proper disposal of isolates:The waste oil and oily sludge separated by the oil–water separator are generally classified as hazardous waste and must be stored in a designated hazardous waste storage area in accordance with relevant hazardous waste management requirements, then handed over to a qualified disposal entity.
Daily Maintenance and Management Recommendations
In addition to upgrading hardware infrastructure, companies should also pay attention to the following details in their day-to-day operations:
- Regular Cleaning and Maintenance:Regularly inspect the automatic drain to ensure proper operation, and clean the filter element and oil collection tray of the oil‑water separator to prevent equipment blockage or failure that could result in untreated wastewater being discharged directly.
- Standardize pipeline network markings:Within the plant premises, rainwater and sewage networks shall be clearly labeled and color-coded to prevent misconnections and cross‑connections during construction or routine pipeline connections.
- Establish an environmental protection ledger:Maintain detailed records of condensate generation, treatment volume, waste oil transfer quantities, and third-party disposal receipts for routine inspections by environmental protection authorities.
