After prolonged operation under heavy load, the internal components of an air compressor wear out, and the lubricating oil degrades. A major service not only involves thorough cleaning and comprehensive inspection of the equipment but also serves as an essential measure to restore performance, reduce energy consumption, and prevent unexpected breakdowns by replacing critical consumables.

1. Specialized Lubricant
Lubricating oil in air compressors serves to lubricate, cool, seal, and reduce noise. As service time accumulates, the oil oxidizes and degrades, leading to carbon deposits and sludge formation. During major maintenance, it is essential to completely drain the old oil and replace it with fresh, equipment‑specific lubricant that meets the manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring optimal protection for the compressor’s rotor.
2. Oil filter
The primary function of the oil filter is to remove metal particles and impurities from the lubricating oil, preventing them from entering the compressor and causing wear. Replacing the oil filter during major maintenance ensures the cleanliness of the oil circuit and helps avoid insufficient oil supply and high‑temperature shutdowns caused by a clogged filter.
3. Air filter (air cleaner)
The air filter is the compressor’s first line of defense, designed to trap dust and particulates from the intake air. If the air filter becomes clogged or damaged, it not only reduces airflow and increases energy consumption but also allows significant amounts of dust to enter the system, accelerating lubricant degradation and wear on the compressor head. Therefore, replacing it with a high‑quality new air filter during major maintenance is essential.
4. Oil–gas separator element (oil separator element)
The oil‑separator element’s function is to remove lubricating oil mist from the compressed air, ensuring that the discharged air is clean while enabling the oil to be recirculated. An aged oil‑separator element can lead to excessive oil carryover in the exhaust and an increased internal pressure differential. Replacing the oil‑separator element during major maintenance helps effectively control oil consumption and reduce the equipment’s operating current.

- Transmission components:Check the belt tension and the coupling elastomer; replace any components showing significant wear promptly.
