Standard Routine Maintenance Interval
The maintenance intervals for screw air compressors are typically based on operating hours or calendar time. For newly commissioned equipment, it is recommended to perform the first service after approximately 500 hours of operation, primarily to replace the lubricating oil and oil filter and to remove metal particles generated during the break-in period.
After the initial service, the standard maintenance interval is typically set at every 2,000 to 3,000 operating hours, or at least once a year for a comprehensive inspection. If the equipment operates in a favorable environment and under stable load conditions, the interval may be extended accordingly; however, it is not recommended to exceed one year.
Key factors affecting maintenance frequency
The actual number of maintenance intervals is not fixed and must be dynamically adjusted based on the specific operating conditions.
- Runtime environment:If the equipment is operated in environments with high dust levels, elevated temperatures, or high humidity, the contamination rates of the air filter and lubricating oil will increase significantly, necessitating a corresponding shortening of the maintenance intervals.
- Workload:When equipment operates continuously at full load, internal components experience accelerated wear, necessitating more frequent maintenance to ensure operational safety.
- Usage frequency:For equipment used intermittently or operated for short periods each year, it is recommended to perform maintenance at least once annually—even if the prescribed operating hours have not been reached—to prevent lubricant degradation and component aging.
A combination of daily maintenance and periodic servicing
In addition to annual or hourly major maintenance, routine upkeep is equally essential. Operators should make it a habit to perform daily inspections, such as checking that oil levels are normal, listening for unusual noises during operation, and verifying there are no oil or air leaks. Regular cleaning and draining not only help reduce the failure rate of critical components but also ensure that annual maintenance achieves its maximum effectiveness.
