I. Spatial Layout and Dimensional Requirements
The layout of the air compressor room shall prioritize the operational and maintenance requirements of the equipment. Sufficient clearance shall be provided on both sides and at the front of the main unit. Not less than 1.5 metersThe maintenance accessway shall provide an operational clearance of at least 0.8 meters at the rear to facilitate routine maintenance and component removal. When multiple units are arranged in parallel, the spacing between them shall be no less than 1 meter to ensure adequate air circulation and prevent localized heat buildup.
- The ground’s load-bearing capacity must accommodate the maximum weight of a single unit plus the dynamic loads of its auxiliary equipment; it is generally recommended to be no less than 8 tonnes per square meter.
- Door and window dimensions shall accommodate equipment hoisting requirements. Large data centers should be equipped with dedicated lifting openings or load-bearing beams, with a lifting capacity sufficient to support the weight of the heaviest components.
II. Ventilation and Heat Dissipation Design
Air compressorDuring operationSignificant waste heat is generated, and a well‑designed ventilation system directly affects equipment lifespan and energy consumption. The total area of the air inlets should be calculated based on the fan’s exhaust volume; typically, natural air intake is combined with mechanical exhaust. The exhaust outlets should be positioned as close as possible to the heat sources to leverage thermal buoyancy and accelerate the removal of hot air.
- The indoor temperature is maintained below 40°C at all times to prevent high temperatures from reducing the viscosity of the lubricant and causing malfunctions in electronic components.
- The supply air louver must be fitted with a dust‑proof filter and cleaned regularly to prevent dust buildup that could impair ventilation efficiency.
III. Noise Control and Vibration Isolation Measures
Industrial environments impose strict limits on sound pressure levels, necessitating a comprehensive noise‑reduction strategy for compressor rooms. For foundation vibration isolation, rubber damping pads or spring isolators should be installed beneath the equipment to break the solid‑borne transmission path. Walls and ceilings can incorporate sound‑absorbing materials in combination with perforated panel systems to reduce reverberation time.
- The supply and exhaust ductwork shall incorporate built-in silencing sections to ensure that airflow noise is reduced to within the limits specified by national standards.
- The operating room and control room shall be physically isolated from the main equipment area and equipped with double-glazed soundproof observation windows.
IV. Electrical and Safety Features
The power distribution system shall be supplied by a dedicated circuit, and the cable cross-section shall be selected based on the rated current and the starting inrush factor. The control cabinet shall be installed in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from oil contamination and moisture. The indoor illumination in the equipment room shall not be less than 100 lux, and emergency lighting and evacuation signage must comply with fire safety regulations.
- Combustible gas detectors and temperature–humidity–linked alarm systems must be installed, with data transmitted to the central monitoring platform.
- The grounding resistance shall be less than 4.0 ohms, and critical equipment shall be equipped with an uninterruptible power supply to ensure safe pressure relief during shutdowns.
V. Piping Layout and Maintenance Space
The main compressed air pipeline shall be configured as a looped or branched network, with pipe diameter sizing accounting for terminal pressure loss and peak air consumption. The spacing between pipe support anchor points shall comply with material‑specific standards, and additional anti‑disconnection devices must be installed at bends and tees. Underneath air receivers and dryers, sufficient clearance shall be provided for operating drain valves to enable regular condensate discharge.
- All piping shall be purged and pressure‑tested, and weld quality shall meet the requirements of nondestructive testing standards.
- The valve handwheel shall be oriented to facilitate manual operation, and a conspicuous identification plate shall be installed between the high-pressure side and the low-pressure side.
