Maintenance of Huai’an Water-Lubricated Air Compressors

I. Water Quality Management and Circulation System Maintenance

Water-lubricated compressors use water as both the lubricant and the coolant, and the quality of the water directly affects the equipment’s operational efficiency and service life. In the Huaibei region, some industrial water supplies have high hardness; if untreated water is used directly, scale formation in the compressor’s internal components and piping is highly likely.

  • Water Source Selection:It is recommended to use purified water or deionized water as the lubrication medium to minimize scaling and corrosion risks at the source.
  • Regular water changes and cleaning:Based on the equipment’s operating hours, regularly drain the old water and clean the water tank. Remove sediment from the bottom of the tank to prevent impurities from entering the circulation system.
  • Anti-corrosion and anti-algae:Where permitted, an appropriate amount of a dedicated corrosion and algae inhibitor may be added to maintain the cleanliness of the circulating water system.

II. Inspection and Replacement of Core Components

Filter elements and seals are consumables in the maintenance of water-lubricated compressors and must be inspected and replaced in strict accordance with the prescribed maintenance schedule.

  • Water Filters and Air Filters:Water filters trap fine particulates in the circulating water, while air filters ensure clean intake air. They should be cleaned or replaced regularly to prevent clogging, which can reduce airflow and cause wear on the main unit.
  • Pipeline seals:Inspect all pipe joints, valves, and the sealing areas of the main unit. If any signs of aging, damage, or leakage are detected, replace the seals promptly to prevent high‑temperature shutdown of the main unit due to water shortage.

III. Daily Inspections and Troubleshooting for Air Compressor Maintenance

Establishing a comprehensive daily inspection system is key to preventing unexpected failures and reducing air compressor maintenance costs.

  • Parameter Monitoring:Record the equipment’s discharge pressure, discharge temperature, and operating current daily. Ensure that all parameters remain within their normal ranges; if abnormal temperature increases or pressure fluctuations are detected, shut down the unit immediately for inspection.
  • Troubleshooting of Abnormal Noises and Vibrations:While the equipment is running, listen carefully for any unusual friction or excessive vibration from the main unit and the motor. If abnormalities are detected, have a qualified technician perform air compressor maintenance; never operate the unit while it is malfunctioning.

IV. Seasonal Transitions and Shutdown Precautions

In the Huaibei region, winter temperatures are low; when water-lubricated air compressors are shut down for the winter or left idle for extended periods, special attention must be paid to frost protection.

  • Completely drain the accumulated water:After shutdown, all drain valves throughout the system must be opened to completely drain any accumulated water from the main unit, the cooler, and the piping, thereby preventing freezing and subsequent damage to the equipment.
  • Re-enable inspection:Before putting the equipment back into operation after a prolonged shutdown, first manually turn the shaft to verify that the main unit rotates smoothly, and then refill it with qualified lubricating water before starting.
