Air Compressor Room Installation Standards

I. Data Center Site Selection and Space Layout

The location of the air compressor room should be determined by comprehensively considering environmental cleanliness, humidity levels, and the convenience of future maintenance. The room should be situated as close as possible to the point of highest gas consumption to minimize pipeline length and pressure loss.

  • Space reservationSufficient clearance must be provided around the equipment for operation and maintenance; typically, a minimum distance of 1 meter should be maintained between the equipment and walls, and overhead lifting space must be reserved.
  • Environmental Requirements: Avoid locating the computer room in areas with high dust levels, corrosive gases, or flammable and explosive materials, and maintain a dry, clean indoor environment.

II. Ventilation and Heat Dissipation System Design

Air compressors generate substantial heat during operation, and an effective ventilation and cooling system is essential to prevent overheating and automatic shutdowns.

  • Air intake designThe air intake should be located at a low position on the exterior of the equipment room and equipped with a dust‑proof filter to ensure that the incoming air is clean and cool.
  • Exhaust Ventilation DesignThe exhaust vent should be located at a higher position in the equipment room or directly behind the equipment’s cooling fans. When necessary, install a ducting shroud and an exhaust fan to prevent hot air from recirculating within the room.

III. Pipeline Layout and Connection Standards

A scientifically sound and well‑designed piping system can effectively reduce system pressure drop and enhance overall air‑supply efficiency.

  • Pipe Material Selection: The main compressed air pipeline shall be made of corrosion‑resistant, pressure‑rated seamless steel pipe or dedicated aluminum alloy piping; the use of ordinary plastic pipes that are prone to aging is strictly prohibited.
  • Slope and DrainageThe main pipeline shall be installed with a slight downward slope in the direction of airflow, and automatic drain valves shall be fitted at the lowest point and at the end to ensure timely removal of condensate.
  • Flexible connection: At the connection between the equipment and rigid piping, a metal flexible hose or a rubber expansion joint shall be used to absorb vibrations generated during equipment operation.

IV. Electrical System and Safety Protection

The installation of electrical systems must strictly comply with relevant national electrical construction codes to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

  • Cable laying: Power cables and control cables shall be routed separately to prevent electromagnetic interference. Cable cross-sectional areas must be rigorously calculated based on the equipment’s total power rating and starting current.
  • Grounding protectionAll metal enclosures, including the air compressor host, air receiver tank, refrigerant dryer, and control cabinet, must be reliably bonded to an equipotential grounding system, with grounding resistance complying with applicable code requirements.
  • Safety Sign: The computer room shall be equipped with conspicuous safety warning signs and provided, in accordance with regulations, with appropriate fire-fighting equipment.

V. Vibration and Noise Reduction, and Environmental Protection Measures

To improve the working environment within the plant and comply with environmental emission standards, the machine room construction must incorporate effective vibration isolation and noise reduction measures.

  • Basic shock absorptionThe equipment foundation shall be level and solid. For large air compressors, a separate concrete foundation must be poured, and dedicated vibration-isolating pads shall be laid or spring-mounted vibration isolators installed.
  • Soundproofing treatmentThe server room’s walls and ceiling may be finished with sound-absorbing materials, and doors and windows should be made of high‑performance sound‑insulating materials to minimize noise transmission.
