Technical Suggestions on Optimization of Air Supply Efficiency of Screw Air Compressor

aiming at the problem that the air supply speed of screw air compressor decreases, systematic investigation and optimization can be carried out from the following aspects:

1. air intake system inspection

  1. filter element condition assessment
  • disassemble the air filter and check whether the filter material is blocked by dust or oil.
  • Hand-held filter element for light observation, if the light transmittance is lower than 50%, it is recommended to replace it.
  • Cleaning cycle: dust environment every 500 hours, clean environment every 2000 hours
  1. intake duct patency
  • check whether the intake hose is bent or collapsed.
  • Measure the air speed at the air inlet, and the normal value shall be ≥ 3m/s
  • removal of possible foreign material (e. g. packaging material fragments) in the pipeline

2. pressure regulation verification

  1. pressure switch setting
  • use a pressure gauge to verify the set value of unloading pressure and loading pressure
  • it is recommended that the unloading pressure should not exceed 1.1 times the rated pressure.
  • When adjusting, the pressure difference should be kept within the range of 0.2-0.3MPa
  1. solenoid valve function test
  • manually trigger the solenoid valve to observe whether there is gas out of the exhaust port
  • test the solenoid valve coil resistance, the normal value should be 20-50Ω
  • the coil temperature exceeds 65 ℃ and needs to be replaced.

3. core component maintenance

  1. screw rotor clearance detection
  • use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the end faces of the male and female rotors
  • normal clearance should be 0. 05-0.15mm, out of range to be adjusted
  • this operation needs to be completed by professional personnel using special tools
  1. oil-gas separator status
  • observe the separator differential pressure gauge, and replace it if it exceeds 0.1MPa.
  • Check whether the oil return pipe is blocked and ensure that the oil flows back normally.

4. System Leak Troubleshooting

  1. pipeline tightness detection
  • coat the pipe interface with soapy water when the equipment is shut down
  • focus on inspection of flange connection and valve sealing surface
  • rewind the raw material tape at the leakage point and tighten the bolt.
  1. Gas tank safety valve calibration
  • manually lift the safety valve lever to check whether it can exhaust normally
  • it is recommended to entrust the metering institution to carry out the jump pressure test every six months.

Optimization of 5. environmental factors

  1. inspection of cooling system
  • clean the attachment on the surface of the radiator to ensure that the heat dissipation area is ≥ 80%
  • detect the cooling fan speed, which should reach more than 90% of the rated value.
  • It is recommended to install forced ventilation device when the ambient temperature exceeds 40 ℃
  1. power supply quality confirmation
  • use a multimeter to measure the three-phase voltage balance, and the deviation shall be < 5%
  • check whether the cable terminal is loose and the contact resistance shall be <0.1Ω.

6. professional maintenance suggestions

if the above inspection is still not resolved, it is recommended that:

  1. contact the equipment supplier for dynamic balance detection of screw rotor
  2. reset the parameters of the control program.
  3. Test the performance of the whole machine and draw the pressure-flow curve.

This recommendation is applicable to conventional screw air compressors, and special investigation shall be carried out in combination with equipment instructions for special working conditions (such as frequency conversion control and two-stage compression). Please make sure that the power is cut off and the warning sign is hung before operation.
